{time in the pasture}

Quietly spending time in the pasture in the evening is something I entirely enjoy.  I’ve mentioned it a lot here recently, and I think it’s because it soothes my {slightly rattled} soul more than most anything else right now.

I’ve been biting at the bit for afternoon chore time to roll around, and I’ve actually been able to go out with my hunk-of-a-husband and Willis and snap a few photos.  I’ll share more later, but I just wanted to share this one from just the other night.  The guys had just taken a new batch of broilers out to their new homes in the pasture that morning, but when we went down in the afternoon, we saw that more than half of the 450 birds were out completely ‘free-ranging’.  Mr. Farmer Jones and I diligently corralled them all back to their safe homes for the evening.  Even in the midst of the chaos and slight frustration,  I managed to get a few pictures of some of the dare-devils :)

    Very good view on the photo… the grass reaching up to the chicks… cool :)

    Haha! Yes, it’s all fun and games until the sun goes away :)

    I’m the same as you…I love being where they’re grazing. And I may be guilty of napping in the field with chickens on me while the goats, pigs and sheep graze away. It’s always the clawing on your calves that wakes you up :)
